These are some pics of a recent trip to WY, rockhunting. I have more, but was hoping for help with a few of these first. I know what a few of them are, but the rest are a mystery. Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated!!
This is one of the 'roads' we traveled to get to a rock hunting place, huge wash-outs and fallen trees were encountered--I walked much of the way!
These are rocks that I wanted for the rock garden. Tons of great Pet wood in this area too, but my companions were too crabby to let me look for any
Forgot this: Before getting to the above area and the following area, we stopped outside Casper WY, on Shirley Basin Rd. Found some gorgeous silicified petrified wood. The pics do not do it justice! Beautiful stuff.
This is a very pretty piece of sil. wood sitting on an entire huge log of sil. wood.
We moved on to the Tri-Territory area, Eden Vally area, did some digging but not very much. I do not like to dig.
I might be old, but I'm still fast enough to catch a horney toad!
Traveling with a totaly bored Vizsla---
Here is a really state of the art road for rock hunting in WY!!!!!
Spring time shaggy mule deer, curious guy
Beautiful Red Canyon near Lander WY. See the big boulder in the road? Fell off the cliff side, it'll be there for a long time, had glow in the dark spray paint on it so you don't hit it in the dark. This canyon is literally crawling with rattle snakes. No rock hunting.
Okay, now what is this stuff? It's the stuff I picked up in the Eden Valley area. The largest piece of wood has yellow rock, like yellow quartz attached to the outside, and the wood is buried far inside. Everything I found there is weird in some way. Anybody know anything about this stuff? Need better pics?
Thanks for any and all help. I'll have more pics as time allows. Thanks for looking--Nona
