Hi, everyone!
A couple of days ago I was in a short rockhounding trip on the banks of Danube River, together with two friends of mine.
We left early in the morning.
The Sun-rise "caught" us on the highway.
And we arrived near the rockhounding spot. There are two bridges over the Danube there. The older one was built in 1895, it had the largest span in Europe and the 3rd one in the world at that time (195 meters).
In my opinion it's much more beautiful than the new one, built in nineteen-eighties. But, of course, this one is more efficient, two railway lanes and four road lanes compared to the single railway on the old bridge.
...and we begun the search. The river was pretty big, allowing us to search on a very narrow beach. But we still were able to find something. Here's the "united" haul of the three of us:
and the find of the day, which my friend placed on the old bridge
We saw two turtles. One of them was slowly crossing a road and we helped it to do it faster.
Then we moved to another spot were we found some interesting concretions. Some of them are really funny and one can see a lot of things in their shape:
a seal that is sitting on the edge of the pool, applauding:
some funny free-forms, together with a standing rat (or Stitch, from "Lilo & Stitch maybe):
And a ... humm ... I think I better let your own imagination flow in order to name that concretion ;D
Be aware, before scrolling down,
you
could
find
this
a
bit
rude.
Well,
I
warned
you!
It would be very interesting to see the names for the rock above, given in a "name that rock" contest
Thanks for looking,
Adrian
