I think it would be interesting to get together with some of the NM hounds on this board for a collecting trip. If any or all of you would like to meet up sometime after the desert cools off a bit, I'm thinking October, maybe we could start planning. What do you think? We could extend the invitation to anyone else who might like to join us...hmmmmmmmmmm. Where would we go??? S

Susan, that's a great idea, count me in! And let me know if there's something I can do to help get this going.

Oh I would love to come out there- As a matter of fact a western road trip is in order But with the price of gas locally hitting $2.33 a gallon and my camper hauling truck only gettin 8 MPG I'm guess a second mortgage on the house would be in order! But thanks for the invite- OH and do take a ton of pictures!

I'm right there with you Stefan, I'd love to go too but don't see it happening anywhere in my future ... near or far. :*( Sure would be fun though, I'd love to go since the furthest southwest I've been is Vegas. Now that I'm into rocks, all I can think is what a freakin waste of $$ that was.

Man, there are sooooo many locations in NM. You guys decide what you want - Agate? - I think Luna in the NW corner of the state would be a great place to go. Minerals? - the Kelly mine in Magdalena or the Blanchard mine in Bingham... Banjo, you like Lepidolite? Quartz? The Harding mine in Dixon (there's a small fee and a 10# limit, not great for you quantity collectors). ROCKHOUND STATE PARK in the southern part of the state has just about everything, including agate-filled geodes. Nice Jasper/Agate/Apache Tears near the Rio Puerco (central part of the state, about 1 hr from Albuquerque). Amethyst sceptors near Mule Creek (NM/AZ border). Labradorite @ Pueblo Park Campground. Moonstone in Rabb Park (2 1/2 mile hike in to the moonstone). Feldspars in the northern part of the state. Pick a week, pick a location. We could vote... ;D S PS: We also have a great International (hot air) Balloon Fiesta here in October. hahaha. It's gonna be fun... S www.balloonfiesta.com/

I'm sick and crying!!!Why is it that every one else gets to have all the fun?I agree with Stefan, Tens pounds for each of us who can't go really isn't that much it wouldn't add up to be more then a couple of tons!of corse we'll pay shipping.

shipping on couple tons ha ha I can see the post office now 1000 flat rate boxes they would put a stop to that and say they are closed to rock hounds
not good but send my ten pounds first

The PO is loving this flat rate! Our local small PO (population of just over 3000) is sending out no less than 20 a day!

you guys sure are funny. Well, if we go to the kelly mine, bingham, or rockhound state park, I'm definately in as those are all just a couple of hours for me. I would love to go rockhounding with some of you people and even though lotarocks hasn't posted here, he's always up for a trip and I'm sure he'd go too

So, 4 CORNERS ROCKHOUNDS, and anyone else who would like to join us, let's get back on this discussion. Would Labor Day weekend be good for anybody/everybody? Banjo, you have expressed some interest and you live the furthest away- when would be good for you? And what are you all interested in collecting? There's also Balloon Fiesta first week of October! We could combine outings...Nugget, have you seen this thread? ;D Susan
