I have finished one batch of rocks and another should be done tomorrow. I'm in the process of tumbling 30 lbs in various stages. My wife asked what I'm going to do with it all. She wants one batch for a glass container. After that?. What do you do with all your tumbled rock? Thanks for any ideas. Arne

Display them, show them off, trade or give away, aquarium, make jewelry[wire wrap nuggets etc.],I sometimes leave them as an extra tip for really good service. In your wife's container you might partialy fill it first with something so you only need to use one layer of rock.I'm sure others will chime in here.Good luck.Mike.

I get the most joy out of giving rocks away. I keep a wide shallow dish of tumbled stones out in my living room. When I see people looking through it, I encourage them to take a few. If someone is really into it, I'll note what kind they took and then tumble a batch just for them. Then I buy a glass container and give it to them full of the rocks they like for their bday or winter holiday. Reject rocks from tumbling go into the aquarium or out into the garden. They also make good geocaching leave-behinds -- oops, wrong obsessive hobby!

I pretty much do the same thing. I have them in bowls, in my aquariums, around the yard and thousands in bags in the garage. Being a school teacher, I give a lot away to kids as rewards. I also throw rocks around the school. Kids will come up to me and say "look what I found outside." One thing I'm planning on doing is to get a carnival type prize wheel and go to the local flea market. One spin will be twenty five cents and whatever number it lands on will correspond to the number that a rock will be on and they will win that (those) rocks. Another cool thing I do at work is once a year during the Super Bowl, I have all my students (150 +) try and guess what the final score will be. Whoever comes closest without going over wins a big bag of polished rocks. Always lots of fun. In over ten years of doing this no one has ever picked the exact score.

Toss them around parks where the children play. The sand under the swings is great. The kid start digging around when someone finds one. Of course keep the best for display in your home. A couple of weeks ago I had jury duty. I brought a few pounds with me and put a few of them on the main walk way between the two buildings about every 1/2 hour. Adults get excited about finding shiny stones too. At lunch time a large group (mostly women) came out and were looking very closely to see if there were more. Made me smile real big. Word had gotten around.

I've literally tumbled a couple tons of rocks through the years and don't have many here at all! I give them to anyone that wants them and like the others here,,,,,KIDS are my main "customers"! Many of us have gone a bit further into lapidary after tumbling 1/2 of the earths rocks! This is a time where your creativeness comes out as you explore and search for what's inside you just waiting to come out in some form of lapidary that strikes your fancy! Wind chimes, pendants, jewelery, faceting gem stones, carving, wire wrapping, cabs, collections and maybe even a bit of silversmithing! The list is almost endless and if you're not careful it will consume you,,,,,and your pocket book!! LOL Just glue a couple of eyes on your favorite polished rock and you've got a friend for life! Just to show you what can be done with rocks,,,,,, This is all petrified wood,,,,, Some local white marble,,,,, More "pet" wood,,,,,, Pink alabaster,,,,,, same with a lit candle in it,,,,, Rock Puzzles,,,,, Playground Kids,,,, Display pieces,,,,,, Montana Agate Common Opal Mini wind chimes to hang off of your rear view mirror,,,,,, Jewelery,,,,,, Stainless Steel Belt Buckle from the rough cut pipe blank to the finished buckle,,,,, A bit of silver work,,,,,, Crysocolla pendant There's a LOT more that you can do and if you look at the other sections of this web site you will see just how far some of the folks have advanced since their first days of tumbling. Good Luck,,,,,, connrock

I always get a hoot out of the ones on the swing.
As to the question, keep the nicest and donate the rest to school teachers or kids prizes for rock shows.
You may also explore tumbling flats, which are of interest to wire wrappers. You might even manage some trades of polished flats for new rough.
If you do a bit of pre-shaping on a saw or even better on a grinder, you can make pendants that might trade or sell very well.
But my favorite is to look at them often and run my fingers through them. I never tire of that.

There are also gift shops that have plates or containers full of tumbles and for a set price you pick your own and fill a pouch . If you have a shop like that, maybe you can strike an agreement to supply them.
Those pics and Ideas above are beautiful.
