Gorgeous stuff, Jack! Are you using covex wheels to work these? I saw some fire agate rough at a Gem & Mineral show I went to this past weekend. The shapes seemed like they would be impossible to work on a regular flat wheel.

They are,.......i use a right angle siding grinder( 4" & 9" , Flex Cable, small diamond carving points, stack of eight 8" diamond blades for the rough grit grind though the blades need to be spaced with a fender washer .020 - .030. and there best use on a arbor with a plastic certain hung over the point of the diameter just in front of the collier plates. finer grind 220 -320 silica wheels.
I work the back side first ( Known as the back fire, matrix side convex )
Then off to the viba-sonic tumbler, be it the VSV-50 or the double 4 Lb. Pack. Viking.
And add Garnets to about a 1:1 Ratio, NEVER use grit courser then 220 / 3F , this is your Course run tell polish.
Nichole I use Galaxy / Nova wheels...Plated & Sinter.
Though the best grinder is the stack of Eight diamond blade stack together with shim with fender washer`s about .020 - .030 thickness use 8" diamond blades. they last longer and the surface is flatter.
