I've been running Estwing belts on my Expando wheel (3 micron up to .25 micron), and I'm just not entirely happy with them. I don't like how they seam the belt, and I'm getting scratches that I just shouldn't. I've also had problems with big chunks of the coating coming off the substrate in spots. Again, I think it's leading to scratches.
What belts do folks like? Anyone use the 3M belts?

Nichole ""What belts do folks like? Anyone use the 3M belts? "" I would bet 90% use 3-M belts Download Catalog www.kingsleynorth.com the ( 3M-belts are the ones to use, they last to the point that you use a 600 grit worn out is about a 1200-grit,) and to load them up with grind dust works as pre -polish on Obsidian. just enough water on belt to make a lite mud. cheap belts cost more, much more, plus cost of stone & the mean-ness from a poor equipment ! RAYSPAN EXPANDABLE DRUMS, are the best to use, as the material their made of dos`t break down.

Titania - a little late to the party, but I'm using 3Ms ordered from John. I love them - been going strong now for about 8 months.

The Eastwind belts are crap! I have an almost new 600 and 3000 that I can't use because they were so tight, I tore the edges of them putting them on and taking them off the drum. I've been using them for hand sanding. I switched to using only Raytec True Circle belts. As their name implies, they stay in a circle shape when you take them off the drum. They have a mylar backing that keeps them in shape and they slip right on and off the drum. My first 600 belt lasted over 2 years, but either I started cutting more cabs or Raytec got cheap with their diamond, because the last 600 belt is almost gone after about a year. But they are still 100% better than any other belt out there.
Speaking of which, has anybody used the Crystal-lite belts? I bought a 600 belt and I think it may have been mis-marked because it cuts like a 220. Are they really that aggressive?
