I see that there have been other complaints on this part of the forum concerning Amlap (Americal Lapidary), but now I want to add my comments.
I ordered a saw blade from them online on a Sunday and selected the priority mail option so I would receive it during the following week. They are located in N.J. and I am in S.C., so there should not have been any problem getting the blade during the next week. Well, by the following Monday (eight days later) I still had not received the blade. By this time, I was really getting ticked off since I needed that blade quickly. I emailed them after 8 days of no delivery, and it took them two days to answer. I was told that the manufacturer had not sent them that size blade when they re-stocked sometime in the past, and then Amlap wanted to know if a thinner blade would be an acceptable substitute!!
They apparently had tried to find that size blade from another supplier or vendor, but had been unsuccessful. Well, for cryin' out loud.... why in the world did they not call or email me the day the item was ordered and tell me they were out of stock?? Instead, they waited 10 days and only after I emailed them, to tell me they did not have it. Why in the world did they think I chose priority mail to have it delivered? Needless to say, I cancelled the order immediately and had to order from another company (who had the blade in stock, btw).
Others who have responded to negative posts about this company say that they should be given some slack because they appear to be a Mom and Pop operation. I say that is a bunch of bull. They should be expected to abide by the same rules of common courtesy when it comes to keeping in contact with the buyer. There is absolutely no acceptable excuse for not emailing or calling me and telling me they would not be able to ship the order or that it would be severely delayed!
I will never order from them again and I have learned my lesson: always check up on this forum to see if there are any complaints about a company before buying from them. I sure wish I had.
