I went out this morning to clean my stones and start the polish stage and the tumbler was quiet! Turned out the motor had died. This is the pitts! I purchased this tumbler in January and this is only the 5th batch I have run in it! I've always done just as the instructions said, and have tended the tumbler regularly.
If tumblers are this unreliable I don't know where to go from here. I like to do pre-formed cabs I cut in the vibe, so rotary is not the way to go for me. I avoided cheap Harbor Freight tumblers and thought this was a good machine.
Suggestions? Repair? Replace? Quit?

Check with where you bought it. You may be under warranty. If you replace it try a Thumler's Ultra-Vibe Industrial, Diamond Pacific Mini-Sonic, or Covington "Berry's Blue". The Covington is pretty close in price/ size as the TV5. The UV10 is the smallest they offer but 10 lb. and will cost about twce as much as the TV5. You won't be writing in 6 month that your motor burned up.

I just sent an e-mail to Raytech explaining the situation and asked if there was a replacement or repair policy for such situations. I sent a copy of my eBay transaction which described the item as brand new (Which it was!) the date purchased and the purchase price. I will let everyone know what they say in their response. Until then, I will be seeking a new tumbler. I will want a backup tumbler even if (By some stretch of the immagination) they do replace/repair the tumbler.
Thanks for your suggestions!

They should replace it. Mine did the same thing a few months ago and I was told there is a known problem with the motor. They sent me a new base.

I have heard on good authority that Raytech is getting out of the tumbler business.I had to replce the drive in mine after only about three years of not very heavy use.Never again!Mike.
