Well this weekend it is official, I have become a rock cutter. I would have cut more, however, I needed to get my tent fixed before Labor Day weekend. Here are the first cuts. My father cut the turtellia, and I cut the others. Tami

You've done it now! ;D Your Rock World as you knew it...is going to consume your life; and the Rocks will now have total control over you. Next..those little slices and slabs are gonna want to rise up; and demand a cabbing machine! Just be prepared when it happens. You can't stop it; so you got to live with it. ;D More, More, More!! The sound of the saw and seeing what's inside the rock hypnotises and mesmerizes. Very nice first cuts.

Nice stuff! Just give it a while and you will HAVE to get a bigger saw for bigger slabs. ;D

A suggestion: If you cut the Turitilla material parallel to the top and bottom you get a better shell pattern. As the shells settled to the bottom when the material formed they tended to lie flat with the upper surface. You're getting the "bug" It is a lifelong affliction. Bob

Steve, I have a cabbing machine I just need to get a drum and the sanding rolls and I will be ready to cut and cab at the same time. Bob, the turtellia my dad cut was too big to go from top to bottom, now that it is cut in half that way I can go from top to bottom. As for the smell of the turtellia, we really didn't notice that, what we did notice is that it was alot harder than the other two pieces and took a little longer to cut. And for the bigger saw, if I lived out in the country and had access to a larger area, I probably would save up the money for a larger saw. Even if I had the space, I don't think my neighbors would be happy with the noise. I live in a neighborhood that has a Homeowners Association. We have to get permission from the commity just to build another garden shed. Tami
