Greetings! Yeah, it's me again. Sorry about that.
About a week ago, I posted about my Lortone 3A. The belt was slipping. With help from folks here, I opened it up and tightened the belt by sliding the motor back a bit. I also loosened the tiny allen screw to adjust the fan bar to make it better align with the other wheel. That fixed the slippage. In the mean time, I ordered some replacement belts.
A few days later, the unit started to squeak, a very high pitch whine that comes and gos but can be heard throughout the house (it is very piercing). I figured that meant the belt was shot. So today I changed the belt (moving the motor back to its original, center position). But the squeak is still there.
Any tips on eliminating the squeak? Are there some standard places to dab a bit of oil? Or some other adjustment that needs to be made?
Thanks! Mechanically challenged yet tumbling obsessed,
ejs

Mine is the 3 barrel version so I am not sure if they are similar or not. It has two bars that the barrels rotate on and each end of the rods has a plastic bushing. I put a drop of oil on each about once a week. I wouldn't put too much on it and I wouldn't add oil without wiping the excess off. Too much oil will attract dust and just wear the bushings faster imo... I hope that helps...

Lortone uses paper thin plastic bushings. Check to see if they are worn through. If not a drop or two of oil where shafts go through would be good. Any light weight oil. If they are worn through you can order them from any Lortone dealer. If that isn't it look at the belt/fan area. If the motor has a little end play the fan or pulley may be moving and rubbing against the frame. Reallign so nothing hits the frame while running.

PLEASE don't tell me you are a Blonde?? ;D connrock FWIW, I use sewing machine oil on the various oiling spots. It's a very fine oil and you can get it at any sewing store. Disclaimer for connrock: I do not sew, I am female, I am blonde (and my IQ is above 150 but I can't tell the difference between jadeite and nephrite). ;D hee hee hee

EJS, you may also find the information in this thread useful. I did a tutorial on the 33B to help out Kim but it can be applied to the 3A as well.
