These are a few stones out of my last batch, they are all local from Lake Huron, 3 are Granite, not sure about others but beautiful to work and take a great shine, it shine is better than picture shows. What I wanted to show thought is a new technique I tried. On the stone with the moon and yeng and yang, I used a temporary body tatoo, using same instructions as for body I transfered it to rock, let it dry then covered with a sealer, glue, and finish I use for Decopage (sp) to try to keep from fading. Hope you like thanks for looking. Terry

Ingenious TerrY! I would have thought it would've rubbed off during the tumbling....even with the sealant on. I guess not...huh. Great idea and appreciate you sharing the results with us. Steve

That is one great design from an awesome idea. I can see tatooed rocks as the next hot item. If you tatoo, you should put some on display in your shop. I bet people getting a tatoo would by the same tatoo on a rock.

It would rub off with tumbling, I polished a bunch of slabs then applied the tatoo, then sealed it , hopefully to cut down on chance of it wearing away, I still don't know if it will work or for how long I just did it yesterday. Terry

OMG too funny - I just did something similar with friends this weekend! I found that you can print your own transfers on transparency film (get the cheap kind, not the kind intended for inkjet printers). Put the transparency in the tray of your inkjet - yes, you are going to print on the slippery side. Set the printer to it's highest ink setting - i.e. best. Print, let dry (never really dries completely). Then very carefully place face down on your stone - don't allow it to move or it'll smear. Then rub it onto the rock - WORKS GREAT! Then, as you did, coat with urethane or epoxy. BTW the second from the left on the bottom row looks like a feldspar porphyry - I love them because they are so graphic and usually take a good shine - especially when done on the wheel.

That is funny, because yesterday I was wondering if that could be done, now I know, but it sounds like more work, the tatoo is very easy, only trouble with tatoos is finding one that will fit rock, and one you want. I also use stickers as a template, place on slab before tumbling just cut around sticker, instead of having to draw or trace, I do that with tatoo also put image on rock, cut image out then tumble. Never thought about using something like a temporary tattoo, I bet that would work on a ceramic piece as well. Love it. Tami
