I received my new tumbler this weekend. It is a Thumbers Tumbler origional. 3#. (I believe that is the name) It is red and black anyway!hehehee. I put my 1st bag of rocks in and off it is going. Hopefully in a month I will have pretty rocks to look at! I just love the feel of shiny rocks.

Go for it! Good luck, be patient, and let us know how it comes out.

Don't get stuck on them being done in a month... I did with my rocks and they have now been going for over 10 weeks because they are much harder than I knew of. If they need to tumble longer then let them!

Do you have extra belts?
If not, order now before this one breaks.
Good luck with your first batch!

I have a Thumlers 3#, too. It's one year old, and I haven't had any trouble with the belt, but I did order a spare when I placed my next rock order from the Rock Shed. Insurance, I guess!
You can try to do it in 1 month, I did, but I'm pretty sure you'll end up tumbling all of those rocks again in future tumbles. But there is some benefit in learning what it looks like when you don't keep them in long enough. It teaches patience! ;D

Well checked my first batch after 7 days and it wasn't done. I added another tablespoon of course grit and gotter going again and will check next Sunday. I did take a few stones out and rinsed them. Boy were they pretty. Just like christmas everyone was a surprise! They were not quite as smooth as I would have liked them, so another week will hopefully do some good.
