Nice! I picked up some from The Rock Shed as well. Now I know what to shoot for!

WTG Don!
Ah that's the stuff! What a fabulous tumble!
I have wanted to see a batch of this material for some time, and the quality of the finished stones are simply outstanding! I'm just agog! Nice Tumble Sir! I love those pretty windows in to the stone, and the gorgeous combinations of green and pink patches, fantastic!
I have a batch of this stuff just awaiting my tumbler - I think I'm inspired enough now! Wow that tumble is fine! Thanks for sharing it with us.
I did a bit of research when I laid my hands on the rough a while back, and the rock is a composition of the minerals, pink Orthoclase Feldspar and Epidote. Although Epidote is sometimes seen as nice bright green crystals, when it is found in massive form with Feldspar and Quartz it is known as Unakite. Both the Feldspar and Epidote rate at Mohs 6-6.5 and the Quartz the usual 7, so it does sometimes vary in hardness through the rock. You did a fabulous job on these!
Love those stones Don! A grade tumbles!
Cheers,
Sparkles

You make even unakite look nice! (Sorry, but every time I see that I can't help but remember what someone else called it here. )

Yep, Virginia state rock and one of my very favorites! In fact, I'm just finishing up a unakite tree.
That is one awesome tumble. Wow. I bought the tumbles for my tree as I didn't have any rough available. Now I wish I had waited and tried to tumble some.

They turned out very nice and have a great shine. It is always irritating when they pit out. I always have to watch the pinks. Sometimes, super glue helps so it gives a little time for even wearing before the pitting takes over. Fran

i love Unikite too. I've never tumbled it, but I just made a nice silver pendant with it.
