10% of the rocks I've been picking up in urban or industrial settings have cement on them. I can knock the stuff off that is on a smooth surface but it can find it's way into pits and crannys. Is there a product I could pick up in a hardware store that would remove cement without dissolving agate or jasper? Lookin' for an easy way out of chipping it out with sharpened pointed nails. Thanks, Carlos

you don't want the cranny anyway, so just tumble it out

Boy! Talk about "Don't sweat the small stuff" being the answer once again. Thanks for the help, both technical and philosophical.

muriatic acid
It is used in low concentrations and short exposures to "clean" concrete. In higher concentrations for longer exposures it can dissolve limestone and most concrete or at least soften it up enough to tumble it out quickly.
