When I bought this rock I was told it was canadian mountain jade. However I cant find any info on it so does anyone know what this might be?

Canada does have a lot of jade, most of what I've seen is taken from rivers in northern BC, I expect "mountain Jade" is the same stuff that hasn't found its way into a river yet....

Wow! Looks a lot like Mariposite to me too. Most the Canadian Jade I have is pretty intense green. I do though, have Washington jade that has that striped appearance so maybe those deposits extend into Canada.....Mel

I looked at some Mariposite photos and it does look like that. I added a photo of a slab from this rock.

Yup, Mariposite was first described from the Pine Tree & Josephine Mine owned by famed Californian, John C. Fremont juat over the hill from where we had a ranch. At that mine it is associated with gold and gold ores and often has those little flecks of gold in it. The nice green color is fuschite, chrome based mica, which gives in the nice sparkles. I've tried it as a tumble with little luck but with patience, it will make a pretty fair cab but it does undercut a bit due to mixed hardness. It's usually a quartz, dolomite, and mica mix.....Mel
