Second one looks like a really well silicified piece of orbicular rhyolite. First example looks to me to be agatized magnesite which is found around Anderson Lake, Clear Creek and several other areas in the central Calif foothills. The little cauliflower-like nodules replaced by silica tend to range from whitish to yellow-gold colors. Could also be some sort of flowering jasper too as I've seen similar pieces from the Cady Mountains, Lavic, and even south Texas.....Mel

Now that I have tried to work it rhyolite for sure. That one went into the trash (the third in a year). I will mess with it again when I am in the right mind set maybe it will work better then. I had hoped it would be harder.
Thanks Mel
