Roger - what the heck is a pneumatic scribe?! (okay - I understand that it's probably a "scribe" powered by air but I've never encountered one before). Nancy

I guess it's an air scribe like you would use to write somthing in metal.Roger has two outstanding books on Agates.

I've read that people heat up Lake Superior Agates and soak them in mineral oil, instead of tumbling them. Maybe it's the same with these?

Thanks,Here's the process use the scribe to remove anything loose also do the lines to make them look worn. Then he boils them in muratic acid then, tumlbes them in sand, then He soaks them in his secret acid bath I think it's Phosphoric or polyacrylic acid to darken the colors.I have not tried the whole process yet. They look just like the Fairburns you could find on the prairie..Roger
