My wonderful hubby got me some fuschite. I see the hardness is 2-3 I also think I see that it could be flacky. Can anyone give me some pointers for tumbling these. Photos would be nice. also does anyone have finshed items photos. thanks,

I've only worked with silicated fuschite, and only on a grinder. It was definitely harder than a 2-3, but not as hard as a 7, I'd say. Really crappy pic of the cab: It was really much greener than this. I've done five cabs (only picture is this one), and haven't had a lick of trouble.

I tried some in the tumbler- I would show you pictures but after 2 weeks in course it was all gone!! I would not recommend tumbling it.

CUL-Ann...it can be extremely fragile. Basically, it's glitter. (mica) Akansan has cabbed (I think they're beauts...by the way!) some of the harder type. This is the fuschite I have. It's a good sized hunk. Natural glitter green. (reminds me of Christmas!) From Africa. Have to keep it out of sunlight or it will bleach out. I've chipped off a few pieces to send to other member. This piece has layers that I can remove sorta like a biscuit. Now remember...it can come in different forms, some of which can be worked...but not very many. Mine is more of a pretty rock...mineral display piece. Do you have a picture you can post of your? It would be helpfull for us to see!
