Could be tourmaline. In fact, I'd put money on it.
although...
hate to burst your bubble and everything but that kind of symmetry doesn't occur in nature. What you have there is a piece of someone's decorative stained glass. Probably worth more than the usual green or brown you'd find on any beach if only by a few cents.

Nice slice! I don't think it's fluorite though (fluorite is soft), and the pattern/color doesn't look right for watermelon tourmaline, and the whitish flaky area on the front doesn't look at all like glass would behave. So I'm in the agate/chalcedony camp... where's Mel for a specific ID? -Don

I have a piece of bloodstone that is a lot more agatey than usual, and it has similar coloring. The right section of it could indeed look like that, but your's is just too cool.
