Scotland's good for agates, bloke sells them on Ebay probably cheaper than driving there. His website www.agatesofscotland.co.uk/You can get Cotham marble in Watchett. near Minehead. Pic www.fossilbeach.co.uk/Templates/fossils/cotham_marble/cotham%20marble4.html Don't know how available it is from Bristol as Cotham is a very Built up area. Somerset is good for geodes they call them field potatoes! Why I don't know. Beaches are a good source of material anything that isn't a uniform grey colour. Links. Mostly fossils. But some bits and pieces. easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~gcaselton/fossil/fossil.htmlwww.ukfossils.co.uk/Alternatively google geology groups UK most of them will be able to tell you what's available locally. I go to LLantwit Major mostly for devils toenails and the occasional ammonite I'm pretty new to this myself so I mostly go and have a look even if you don't find anything the day out's good. Simon

My girlfriend is from Derbyshire, in the midlands ... mining country. She says rockhounding is very popular there because there's a wide range of good stuff, especially crystals, but she doesn't know more about it. You should try to find more specifics and take a ride out there. It's right near Sherwood Forest, so stop and say "Hi" to the Sheriff of Naughtingham while you're up that way!
Are you down The Smoke, Mate?
