I have a slab (not sure what it is obviously) and it's got some light green inclusions and a blackish background. When I was grinding it, it bled black, kinda like dentritic stones bleed black. The surface is extra shiny like hematite and the cab is heavy for it's size. I thought hematite always bled red - like messy.
I'll post pictures tomorrow of the finished cabs but tonite I need sleep

Tweetie: Hematite streaks red, you may have a magnetite since that streaks black. Woody

Tweetie: Magnetite is very magnetic, in fact, it is in itself magnetic. If your material is not magnetic, then it could be a manganese ore like psilomelane. If you have a torch, you can do a bead test. To do this, heat a platinum wire with a loop on the end to red heat, and plunge it into dry borax reheating and plunging until you have a round bead on the end. Then put a very small amount of your material on the bead, and heat it in the hot blue part of the torch flame. If the colour produced is redddish-violet, then you have manganese. I hope this helps more than confuses. Woody
