Folks, I found a new website that is selling Morrisonite, Carrasite, and other NW gem rough - JustCabs - justcabs.com/. Unlike the name, this site does sell rough, primarily from the Northwest. I picked up some rough - Morrisonite, Carrasite and Willow Creek. For the price, the parcels were pretty good. My favorite was the Carrasite, which had a nice variety of colors and patterns. The Morrisonite was mostly green. But, I need to cut some up to see the inside. The Willow Creek has a couple of colorful chunks, a piece that looks orby, and another piece had pale green stringer. This site also has really reasonably price tumbling rough: Morrisonite - $3 pound. I can't vouch for the quality of this rough as I did not purchase any, but the picture shows some pretty colorful pieces. And, at $3 a pound, I don't think you can go too wrong.

Yes the owner of the site is Dale Bramlette and he is a great guy. I am currently tumbling about 30 pounds of that morrisonite and it's not to bad. I usually go over to his house everytime I go to the Owyhees. He also has some Bruneau tumbling pieces for $3 a pound also.
Dale also specializes in cutting star garnets as well. He sells 4 ray rough for 25 a pound and 6 ray rough for $50 a pound.

I went on the site for a look-see and saw a rock that looked like the one that I posted here for an ID. The black one with irredescent colors. Well I was kind of excited about that so I e mailed not really expecting a reply as I wasn't buying anything. I received an e mail back from Kelly offering some info and letting me know that Dale was out of town but that he would reply when he got back. A few days later, I received an email from Dale with more info on Goethite. Pretty nice service I'd say for someone not even buying. Jonje, see if this one works for you justcabs.com/cabstore//catalog/index.php?cPath=21I've come to the conclusion that rockhounders or anyone that has an interest in rocks has to be the nicest group of people.

Dale has more slabs than any person I know. A lot of his stuff is material that is very uncommon. Dale is also very knowledgeable about rocks and especially Star Garnets if you need star garnets cut he is the man. He sells under the Ebay user id of "Justcabs" and "IdahoGems.com".

Thanks Sands.... I try to update frequently but I have actually procrastinated writing about my last 2 field trips.
