In an appalling lapse of judgment, the adults took Fairburn along yesterday on the club field trip to southeastern MO. What you DON'T see in the photo is that he picked up a second variety of burrs as well, the fat ones that are a half inch long covered with long stickery things that get imbedded deep in the fur of tails, legs, and paws. Poor Fairburn. Also poor people, who came home and got those out of him--after carrying around a pack full of 50 or so lbs. of rocks up in the hills on an unseasonably 80 degree sunny day. I've never seen a dog be more cooperative with being bathed and combed and it took a LONG time!

LOL -- this puppie's not so good today either. Because of Mr. pup's back problems, guess who was carrying the loaded backpack.

I hate those burs both the fat ones and the flat ones. Bless your patience, I would have grabbed the shears.

Just one comment...he looks so happy...burrs aside. If he continues to have fun out in the fields with you, looks like he might, you may want to take him to the groomers as summer starts and get him a buzz cut...will save on the burrs getting entwined and matted in all that hair...he may look funny for a while but by Thanksgiving he will have all the hair back ...in the meantime he will be cool and burrless. We had a neighbor that did that every year for his Old English.
