Howdy folks, Well, found my camera and took a few pics for Y'all ( see I'ma speakin Texican already *L*. First a pic to dispel the myth that Texas is like all dry and deserty. This is the end of my street by the mail boxes. Creek is brimming with fish too. Got to get me a fishin license soon! All the rock and fossil stuff is from our lot. Next, a fossil coral replacement with flint. One is a full head with a chip out showing the polyp design and the smaller hunk is broken along the long axis of the polyps showing the fan like structure. Some weird flint nodules. Most are ground colors but there are lots of the blue sort of orbicular stuff and some of this butterscotch yellow. Really hard and well silicified stuff. Flint geode. Lots of huge round flint nodules on our hillside and I found this one broken with a botryoidal agate geode. Have seen a few pieces with druze too. About 6" in diameter. And finally, since we are on top of the heavily fossilferous Edwards formation, here are some turritella-like snails replace by quartz that have been etched from the limestone. Gave a whole sack of these to a schoolteacher buddy. Cool example of a fossil graveyard.

Mel,
Glad you made it safe and sound. Very nice spot you landed in too! I was raised in E. Texas around Beaumont, but left for MO in 1977. What town are you near?

Oh, how I miss Texas! Even though my house is about two and a half hours away from you (I am not there though) the pictures make me homesick! It looks like you are in a great area to find things. All I was finding was flint when I was there last. That's OK. Some of it has very nice patterns. I really like the fossils that you found. I look forward to seeing what else you find there. Fran

Do you like folk music Mel? The Kerrville folk festival is one of the best anywhere. I've never been to it though. Great place you live at.

Gil: Love folk music and hope to hit the festival when we're all settled. Seems to be a great town for music and art both. Lots of western painters in town. No rock club though!
Daniel: Am in the process of cracking up some flint now but it doesn't look real showy so far. Think the other site I found just off the ranch has prettier stuff. Need to get some drip pans for the tumblers before I start them rolling though.
Steve: We're near Kerrville which is about 80 miles south of dead center in Texas in the hill country region.
