I have seen several negative posts regarding American Lapidary Wholesalers, of Oradell, NJ, here. Mainly complaints about them not responding to emails, not communicating when they were out of stock and customers having to cancel orders weeks later.
But because they were offering the best price and because they took paypal (a necessity in my case), I decided to take my chances and ordered a Lortone water drip system for my grinder from them.
I did have a strategy, though. I placed the order through their website and then immediately emailed to ask when I could expect it to be shipped. I did that after reading of fellow rockers' experiences waiting in vain for deliveries. There also had been the suggestion that these folks didn't monitor their web orders very well and did not seem to know whether they had stuff in stock.
Pleasantly surprised, I got a response a couple hours later, saying it would be dropped shipped out of Florida the next day. Then, the next day, they sent me a tracking number for UPS and a receipt.
I placed my order Monday and I just opened the box today. Four days.
Maybe it was my strategy of prompting them, maybe they have decided to get better at customer service. Either way, I am quite pleased with their service.

I'm happy to hear of at least one positive experience with these folks. Mine was not pleasant and I would not take a chance again. I finally cancelled my order with them by email after multiple emails had been ignored and they still weren't taking messages or answering the phone. They responded only twice- Once with a question about an item and a curt acknowledgement after I requested they cancel my order. i made mention that there had been negative comments posted about their business practices on a few hobbyist message boards and I had been one of the discontented. They made no effort to explain themselves, apologize for their neglect or in any other waay try to make it right. If they don't need my business, they won't get it. mark H.
