I finally got a vibe tumbler and am just learning the pros and cons but that is what it is all about...learning. I have lots of chips but I am sure my next batch will be better. Here is the whole batch: And mostly reds: Mostly greens: A few strange ones I threw in: A special ocean jasper that I like: the back: A lace I could not get to shine well before so I threw it in: A dark lace: And one I showed before but was not happy with: A Moss: Here are a few I like even though they are not perfect. The second one over is a cab I started but had too many crystals in it so it pitted out I threw it in and it is nice an shinny but pitted. Thanks for looking, Fran

Fran, Good looking batch. Looks like quite a mixture. I have just started tumbling and am still working on my first batch. I am using a rotary and a vibe. What grits and how long did you run them.

Most of this batch was tumbles that I stopped doing because they were chipping out so badly or they were pulled out of tumbles because they were not ready to go on. The green tree is full of pits and the Moss and Plume agate have always given me problems. They were really nice until the last 12 hours in polish. I decided that they didn't need to continue with pellets (Since I am in a townhome, I don't run the vibe at night. It is too loud. I rinse and pull every night) That last day, most of the agates chipped so they will have to go another round to smooth out. Since some were already ran several weeks in a barrel tumbler, they went 5-12 to 15 hour days in 220, borax wash 2-12 to 15 hour days in 600 and pellets Borax wash 1-12 hour day in Alum Oxide polish and pellets Borax Wash 1-12 hour day in Tin Oxide polish Ivory snow burnishing Fran

Hi Fran, Thats a great batch and a good polish ifit your first attempt in a vibe
I like the Lace agates they always come out well with a shine that is amazing And the Moss Agate a good finish
I send out "Conrocks Gloss finish" vibe guide that takes you through from 120 G to a high gloss finish if you want a copy Email me
john@matco.me.uk
Tom (Conrock ) has been using a vibe for 3 years and experimenting to get a high gloss finish and the result is extreemly good
I have sent this guide out to quite a few RTH members ,
Have a good day

Those tumbles are beautiful. It looks like you have got the pros of the pros and cons down really well. I love the one that had too many crystals in it. Makes me want to get my loop for a closer look.
