Howdy folks. Well, I actually had to stop unloading my rocks and stuff to get all my tables etc built so I'd have a place to set my junk up. Shop is large but still a total disaster area. Here's a pic of the new Mel's rock shop within the larger shop. Finally found the box with my Genie parts so that's the next thing to be set up and it will go on the gray table on the right. Even have my mini fridge up and running. And my slabs are all back in their bins except my favorite Bruneau slabs which are still missing in action somewhere in the mess. At least the shop has a lumber loft over the smaller enclosed rockshop so I can clear some of the bulky junk. Still so much to do though and I still got to get the pedals on my mountain bike too. I guess movers take them off so they don't scratch anything. Hopefully, in a little while I can post some "after" pics that will show a nicely organized, neat shop like some of y'all have. Thanks for lookin....Mel

That's one Fine Rock Shop Mel! There is soooooo much space,,,it's gotta to be like Heaven! I'll bet it's kind of like Christmas repacking all the stuff you've been packing up since the move. Good-Luck finding all the goodies and getting it all up and running. Steve

What a fun place to play with your toys. Looks like your move to Texas is going to go well.

Oh my gosh!! Mel, that is great, true, needs a little organizing, but WOW! That is a killer rock shop!!! Sure as hell beats my little corner of the basement right next to my washer--so I can work on rocks inbetween loads of laundry! One more reason why I need to win the lottery. Oh wait--you have to buy a ticket for that don't you?

akansan: Shop has a futon bed/sofa and a complete bathroom with shower and tile floors too. Guess when I get in the ole doghouse ( which is often enough) I'll have me a safe harbor to stay in for awhile *L*.....Mel

Don't freak out, but I think that someone stole the oven out from under the range hood. ;D That's a great shop bud, I wish that I had enough room to do that. This does mean that you'll be posting more pics now, right?

That is so cool. I'd never leave it. Where's my wish list, wonder how much I'd get for the Mrs and her kids.

Looking good Mel! I love the shop.
I guess that loft is built to hold some weight with 2x12? joists. The builder must have known you were going to put tons of rock up there ;D john

Sheesh ... and I was all excited about having a dedicated rock corner in my new garage. Got me beat by a mile. Problem is, I have to fit woodworking tools, work tables, and a band rehearsal area in my garage, too. Thank god I got a three car garage, two just wouldn't have been big enough. Sure is nice to have some ROOM for a change!

I've got shop envy real bad. That's so great to have the shop inside the large garage. When your wife helps you put stuff upstairs you could whip out a little- Your wife will be like thinking to herself, "yep he's now"

Wowsers now that's a rock shop. Wish I had a whole pre-engineered building as a shop. Watch putting too much weight up on that mezzanine. From the photos it looks like the their might be some framing problems.

Yeah Tony, I was thinking that myself. The rocks will all be on the bottom floor or outside *S*. The upper level is just going to be for storing some camping gear and other lightweight stuff to keep it out of the way....Mel

looks like you are already more organized than I am. right now it looks like a disaster area. I had a sign somewhere in the shop that said "A clean bench is a sign of a sick mind" so I should be ok
