The motor on my QT66 just stopped turning and started humming and feeling a bit warm. Wouldn't turn even with no load.
Figured it was fried. Was going to rig a bracket to replace it with one of my surplus motors. Finally I just bought the Lortone motor so I did not have to rig a bracket.
Friend of mine was going to put the motor on. He tested the old one, which I would not have done since I knew it was dead. Damm thing started turning right away. I figured it to die as soon as loaded. Put on two barrels and it is still going strong.
I figure it will keep working until I return the new motor. LOL. Anyway, seems like a good idea to keep a spare motor around.
Go figure.

As you probably know these motors run very hot and need to be lubed often. The bearings are always drying out and can cause the motor to hang up. A little drop of oil helps a lot.
Another thing that happens is if the motor has a lot of play in it ,it sometimes will hang up and ten when removing it you free it up.
I keep a coupe motors here and my son keeps me in 1/4hp and 1/2hp motors. Some of the jobs he bids on speck out certain motors and he has to replace the ones that are factory installed in the blowers. They are brand new and wen he gets one he drops it off for "dad". I only have 2 right now but they are just aching to have me hook them up to a new piece of equipment!
