Here is a slab from the material we found at the Beaver Valley quarry...........Not very sharp, one day, I will figure out how to do close ups with this camera

Don't know anything about that quarry. Looks like some type of obsidian. Is it?

It is from a big agate nodule. The Northwest Mineral Council says it is chert, but chert is formed in sedimentry rock, and this nodule came out of basalt. Light passes through about half of this slab. There is a photograph of the nodule this came from in General. I slabbed one of the broken chunks. Woody

I sure don't know what it is but it looks like it could be an obsidian more than a chert. Either way, it sure is pretty. Fran
