Beautiful cab, Bob! And a great material. Do you mark out all your cabs, or do you free hand them? They always look carefully marked and followed, but I'm betting with myself you have been at it long enough to freehand them. I didn't bet much so it doesn't matter which of me wins T

Really neat picture in stone...canyon that is! I've been a fancier and hunter of that material for a long time and that particular pattern is a new one for me. Nice!.....Mel

It is a small cab - only 1" high. Some cabs I start with a template. I usually use drafting templates because they have a very large selection of shapes. I especially like the longer ovals. Most cabs with a particular pattern are done freehand to comform to the specific pattern. Often the shape is dictated by the preform material shape and the location of fractures. I make it a point to never include any fractures in the cab. If it is absolutely unavoidable to remove the fracture I will seal it with Opticon.

I really like stone canyon Jasper as well as just about any breciated jasper and that one really has a unique pattern. Nice job on the finish also.
