I purchased both of these materials in 2007/2008 at the Pow Wow in Quartzsite. I have mixed information on their original locales. Some have told me they are from Oregon and others have indicated that they are from Idaho. Does anyone know which is from which? Name: Forest Green Plume Agate Name: Forest Fire Plume Agate Thanks!

That one maybe hard to figure out. I will tell you from experience collecting on the Idaho and Oregon border 90% of the time I could not tell you which state I'm in. There are a lot of different plume agates on the border of Idaho and Oregon but my guess would be Oregon.

I've always heard that both those agate examples originated in the Challis volcanics of Idaho but I've never actually seen an article printed with a map etc.....Mel

One look tells me why nobody that knows where this material comes from wrote an article, or made a map!
Jason...you need a GPS!

rockfromahardplace,
Yeah, I know your first link, I wrote the article about a year ago. I put out that newsletter for our rock and gem club. I said Oregon back then as that's where I heard it came from. But I have since found a few misc refs for it from Idaho too. I found the two cab sites too, but they offer no further info on the sites. More leads coming! ... thanks.

THANKS ALL ... got some updated info ... both veins apparently come from the same general area that Bruneau Jasper is mined. They are close to one another and both from Idaho.
