After a very long, long time, I finally made it out to do my favorite thing, jade diving. It was a rainy windy day, a great way to get back into it! The swells were starting to build but I made it in for a quick dive. At first glance it looked calm but in the water it was non stop surge. Didn't find a lot of jade around 10-12 pounds, but one made up for for tonnage. I hope to do some more again soon. Here's some pics, it was a great time and good to dive again. Old photo for reference, reminded me of that day. Nice green bar: "B" grade but looked to have potential

Nice!! I'd love to go diving for jade one day. I'm a certified diver but haven't been diving in years. My last dive was off the Northern coast of Puerto Rico. No jade there! lol ..... You gonna do some cabs from that? We'll be needing pics of them as well. ;D

Beautiful boulders!
Any chance to find jade on that rocky beach? Or is it already "cleaned" by rockhounds?

Randy dust off the dive gear and drive your bike out. Along the way pick up Roxy and her dad. I am thinking you could outfit for a sidecar for her pops. Call up Condor to meet up with us, it could be a EPIC time!!
Adrian, most all the good jade is now found thru SCUBA. I have a secret spot for beach collecting and when you come out let me know if you all want to go. It's about 4.5 hours south of San Francisco.

Wow, that one bar is a beauty!! My guy is also a certified diver, and when he moves out here, and wants to get some diving in the Pacific! He's a Northeast coast guy. Hmmm, have to think of a way to get him interested in jade diving!! lol!

Too COLD to ride??? WHAT? Dude, I rode year-round when I lived in Cincinnati. Gotta admit though, I was one of the few out there with that sort of testicular fortitude. Even most of my AFR Brothers hung-it-up for the winter. Pffft ... God made cows so that you'd have leather for riding!
Tony ... I go through a lot to get my Chrysocolla, but SCUBA diving in rocky surf to get rocks ... I aint sure if you're nuts or just dedicated, but either way you sure have my respect. The piece of jade you sent me sits prominently on my display table, as one of the pieces I consider a genuine treasure.

Thanks michaeljohn, always glad to hear someone treasures the jade I send them. I am pretty sure I am nuts, I have heard it many times from others. I could tell some stories that is for sure. On this dive alone is was really surgy and was doing somersaults the entire time, what a rush! I was mainly in the shallows hunting and was in and out of caves looking for the green gems. Not sure why I do it but have lot's of fun in the process. Here is one I found early in the year after heavy surf, not sure if I posted it up but one of my favs to date:

Tony, you do it because it's there and you enjoy it. You are one of the "real men" women are always talking about. Don't let anyone tell you any different.
Beautiful jade!

Tony, Awesome finds my Friend! It would be a Thrill to go out and do some diving for Jade with you. I've never done anything like it, but I think I would enjoy it immensely. Like Curt said..."you do it because you enjoy it"! I ask myself why I go hiking in the rugged mtns. that I do and explore the old mines...I say I do it cuz the mtns. have got a hold of me....but I'M the ONE that can't let go. Your bar is spectacular. Just reading the comments; Tony sure spreads the Jade Happiness around. I know I've got a piece from him that I will always TREASURE! Stay Safe out there Tony. Steve

Tony - are most of your finds in "shallow" water (20ft or less)? It must amazing - rough seas while diving are interesting to navigate...and then pulling up pieces like that!

*smiles*

Thanks all for the nice replies. I do it because I am like all of you, a Rock Hound.
Steve, let me know when you are out this way and will show you how to dive for jade. It's a real blast.
Curt, very cool complement. I am sure a piece of jade will make it's way to Texas sometime soon.
Akansan, most of the time it is fairly shallow. But you never know, I have found some of my best pieces deep.

I know this is an old post but I recognized the stone Tony posted. He gave it to me to grind and polish a couple of months ago and it turned out awesome. Now let me see if I can figure out how to post the pic ..... images.ecwid.com/images/1036054/34166791.jpg hmmm, didn't seem to work. well if you want to see the finished stone, go to the oceans art Jade website, click store, gallery pieces and you will see 6 pics of this primo stone. Took an insane polish. enjoy
