Another newbie, to rock tumbling anyway 
. After scanning the internet for DAYS, I finally landed here. So far, this is the most comprehensive site I have seen (that isn't trying to sell me something). I tried to read all I can about this subject, but the books I have gone through haven't really answered a couple of lingering questions I have, so here goes.
1st, how do you remove gemstones embedded in rock without damaging them, and 2nd---what gemstones cannot be tumbled? I recently returned from North Carolina with about 15-18 lbs of material that includes rubies, a couple saphires, amethyst, quartz, topaz, emerald, tourmaline, aquamarine, and some other doo-dads that I can't I.D., along with what I was told were garnets, but all the pictures I have seen look nothing like these. They are round in shape, ranging from the size of a marble, to one that is the size of a golf ball. Oh yeah, 1 more question---a good portion of these stones are good for faceting (my next project ! ;D), so is it safe to assume that I not tumble these? Sorry for babbling on and on, it's late, 1 am or so.
