I cut these buggers and I likey them! Too bad for the fractures. Question for you Mel....do you find it often that dryheads have fractures in them?? It seems the larger ones I've cut, they tend to have fractures. Soon to become dome polished. too bad for the cracks. Steve

Wow! Those are beauties Steve! In answer to your question: Yep, unfortunately fractures are pretty common in Dryheads. I'd estimate 75% plus have fractures and when you dig them, many break along the fracture lines as you try to take them out of the limestone. Those are pretty old formations and I imagine the agate has gone through a lot of stress through the ages plus, any that come from near the surface have been subjected to some pretty severe hot and cold. There was a beautiful cabin on the way into the digs and the dig manager told me sometimes it was up to it's eves in snow.....Mel

Rich, Just finished polishing the small one. It's in the cabs section. Thanks guys for liking Dryheads as much as I do. Thanks for the explanation Mel. I won't feel so bummed about the fractures now. :^) Steve

That first one is different, most I've seen look like the second. Beautiful cuts, shame about the fractures.
