Well, new to me anyhow. These slabs are one inch thick, the pen bases are self adhesive and can be purchased from Exolite. I'm going to do ten more of these as soon as I get some oil for the saw...... This is Red and Green brecciated jasper from Africa, I got it from Kim (Rockyraccoon).... Here's a slab of Sheep Creek plume agate that my wife picked out of the rock pile at the local rock shop.......

I polished the top of the red and green one, the Sheep Creek actually looks better in the natural finish. Oh- these also double as paper weights.

Those are really nice Randy! Would make great gifts indeed! Did you use a vibe flat lap or hand polish? Sure got a fine polish on that jasper anyway. I need to buy me my new saw because I got a fine hunk of that material from Kim too. Beautiful stuff....Mel

That's a really great idea and a perfect gift for a "hard to buy for" person.

Mel- believe it or not, I polished that one on my cabbing machine. The slab was just within the size range to be able to do this.

Do they have the pencil, too, so it could be a pen & pencil set?

You'll have to do a search on that one, there are a few sites out there that sell these. I got these from Exolite, there link is www.creditcardcastle.com

Cool. I've been wondering where you could get those pen bases. The possibilities are endless. Thanks for sharing.
