Christa and I went up to Black Canyon City (just north of Phoenix) today to catch the last day of the Rock-O-Rama show. Small show.. not much advertising and just a handful of vendors, but some nice deals to be had. Got stung by a dang'd old bee out there, but also got 'half price' on just about everything as it was the last day of the show. No pain no gain lol. Here's what I picked up Blue Mountain Jasper Owyhee, Mushroom Jasper and a lil Montana Crazy Lace and Dino Bone Burro Creek and Aztec Lace Some Verde River Agate Something interesting. The guy said he thought it was palm, but I'm not so sure. It has 'bark' on three sides, definitely wood. Any thoughts? Not too bad for a $40 haul, eh? Thanks for lookin!

Nice haul Brian!Dang that Blue Mountain is gorgeous! Next time you see some, how about buying a slice or two for me. (ahem, don't get too carried away with the price though. ;D )
I think the wood is worm wood or some people call it peanut wood. Fantastic specimen!

I agree, the Blue Mountain is sweet!! The last one looks like palm, but I'm far from being an expert, especially on something that I've only seen pics of. lol

That last unknown one - any chance those globs are opalized with fire? Looks to me a lot like a slab off a piece of Virgin Valley Conk (or Conch) opal.

Hey thanks everyone. The Blue Mt was a sweet score, looking forward to cabbing it up. Thanks on the worm wood ID Curt. Not sure if I want to cab that or leave it as is. I'm thinking a flat lap might be my next big investment

Gosh darn! I can't believe I overlooked this post. That is really some good looking Blue Mountain and the mushroom jasper, Wow! That last pic is really unusual. Does look to be some kind of wood. I'm gonna have to go to the books on that one. Totally has me stumped but for some reason that cellular structure does seem a bit familiar....Mel

Great haul! When you find out what the last one is, let me know. I have a small slab of it as well from the KC Rock Show in the spring. The guy there also said he thought palm...but I doubted it as well.

That blue mountain is adorable! I can't wait to see some cabs you are going to make out of it. My opinion about the pet wood is that's not palm wood, and those channels filled with blue agate are gorgeous!

All of those slabs are just fantastic. Makes me want to throw my stuff away and start looking for some new stuff.
