In September I had to spend a week in Hot Springs Arkansas for work and managed to do about a half hour of hounding on a hill side near the hotel one evening. This was cut short as I was chased away by a flock of humming bird sized mosquitoes! I did manage to find a few neat rocks though. The middle right rock has some kind of neat little round fossils throughout. The middle left has a neat purple layer between the white. The close up pix didn't turn out. I guess its flint? The coolest has this layer of black agate through it, translucent at the sharp corners. Neat stuff I haven't found the chance to cut yet. A couple weeks ago there was an estate sale in the neighborhood. An elderly lady had passed and her children were in town for closure on her place. Seems she was a bit of a rockhound and her rocks found a new home with me. The two pet wood rounds are huge.. the one I can barley lift on my own! I haven't had the chance yet to go through everything in the box, but there's some nice old pet wood collected years ago, some Morgan Hill pieces and much more. Nice big rose quartz, a cavern stalactite looking thing and pyrite boulders too. And jade, Brazilian slabs, crazy lace and such in the sack So there ya go folks, thanks for lookin! ;D

You even manage to find cool stuff when your out of state and right outside the Hotel!!! And you sure gotta love the rocks collected long ago. That looks like some spectacular stuff...and that stalacticte thingy is so freakin' cool! You gonna slice it?? So.....what's the secret to finding these estate rockhound sales??? I want some tips. Or is it just living right. :^)) Steve

I tell ya, we just don't have that stuff at estate sale on the east coast. Sometimes we do get lucky and find a good deal on a rusty old car. lol ...... Great stuff bud!

Gee Brian, if I knew you were going to be in Hot Springs I could have met you there. I know a few spots to hound up there. You just keep coming up with these full rounds! Around here we celebrate for days if we find a round limb. Curt

Randy got that right, the east coast is really dry when it comes to rocks. That rock next to the Rose Quartz makes me think of coral and that Pet Wood is amazing.
You gave a whole new meaning to the words Miscellaneous Debris with these pics.
