You can' expect him to do what he said - he's a politician. They just say stuff.

Very annoying , especially with the current economic trends, to even think about importing more people to take away our jobs.
Another problem is the proliferation of Walmart, Target, etal.. Seems to me that everything they sell is imported and takes away our jobs

Finding something that doesn't say "Made in China" at WalMart is darn near impossible.

Boy I agree with that Walmart comment. Can't understand when "cheap" became "better". I'd rather pay a bit more for better quality.....Mel

id pay more also....but yaw wait and see....that NAFTA super highway will probably get done....then the asians ships will report to mexico to get unloaded...instead of our ports.
the mexicans will have a straight shot.....little or no enforcement of there loads....and dont nobody say they will be inspected....cause yaw know they wont.
i am sure your walmart....kmart....sears....and target supports this deal
they have no choice....it will affect them greatly for the good of there bottom line.....they want it.
we just got to find a way to fight it.....the highway i mean.....we will see....i dont want to even get into the loss of jobs for our truckers....if this thing goes ahead....kev.

The stores were designed for the poor{wal-mart etc.} and there working,The poor can only buy products that are within there means.Obama is a union man and i believe in unions,This country was built by union members,Unions stand up for there workers.A perfect example is if a companydecides to go non union they can go over seas and start up and there workers here in the USA get nothing after working for years. That is most of them. Some companys wait until a worker gets close to retirement and they fire them so they don`thave to pay them benefits and there`s nothing the workers can do about it. Non union members have no rights. If they were union the companys couldn`t do that..........Rocky

Rocky - A union's pension fund can go down the toilet like any other. It's a lot less likely when the union runs the pension fund. Then the worst that can happen (Jimmy Hoffa's dead, right?)is the company stops paying in. They don't control the money already in the fund.
If it's run by the company, then just about anything can evaporate in a bankruptcy/leveraged buyout/merger/whatever - union or not! Chances are the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corp. (federal pension insurance) will pay out a percentage of the pension. That fund could take a real pasting if many more companies pull this crap.
