I agree Roxy. There are always a few crazy folks out there that seek to do harm and bad guys "with" guns are more dangerous killers. However, guns are also a good defense against such killers and other crooks ( I've had two run ins with attempted robbers at isolated desert camps and ran off the bad folks at gunpoint both times without firing a shot). Like it or not, crime goes down where there are more legal guns for defense and goes up where guns are confiscated. Great Britain and Australia are good examples of how crime goes way up when guns are taken away.Far as crazies go, denied a gun, they can always drive into a crowd with a car or build a bomb and kill multiple folks. Once a crazy has the desire to do harm, it's not that hard to figure a way. Besides, with more than 90 guns per hundred people in the US, criminals will always get them and disarming the public would be pretty much impossible.......Mel

Cpdad: “rich you must really hate guns and us that have them....cause you said.... to bad he missed the old man who was near by...thats just crazy stuff .....somebody dropped the ball big time for that to happen to the kid.....but its no reason to wish the old man to death.”Don’t hate guns or those that have them, Kevin. I’ve done a lot of shooting over the years – 22s when I was a kid, rifle club, 38 pistol, skeet and trap with most guages, .308 rifle. I was in the NRA back in the sixties. (Hey Connrock – Those sand pits in Beacon Falls sucked up a few hundred worth of ammo one day. ;D ) Y’all are talkin’ air rifle at 7, air rifle in 4th grade, shooting deer at 8, bb guns and 22s at 5. This f**king moron has his 8-year-old handed a 9 mm Micro Uzi . . . “retails for several thousand dollars . . . generally designed for military and police use.” According to Ted Oven, a gun retailer and president of the Massachusetts Association of Firearms Dealers, Christopher should have never been allowed to handle a submachine gun on his own. Oven has shot similar weapons and said the recoil is tough to control even for an adult. "It requires all my strength," said Oven, who added that he did not have much experience with the Micro Uzi. "For an 8-year-old, it was inappropriate." There’s a big difference between an accident and an accident waiting to happen. Unfortunately, it wasn't the stupid one that got the bullet(s) here.

Me too Mel, only mine was a 16 Ga. My Dad grabbed the gun and let my butt hit the ground. As I said earlier Rich, you can't pass laws to protect the stupid. And it is too bad the boy got it instead of the stupid one. Curt

I would not worry to much about Barack and gun laws. Rumor has it Dick Cheney has that covered. He is going to take the new Prez Hunting.

There was another one between football fans of Alabama and LSU. I thought all the colleges were Liberal? They got in an argument about this weekends game and a husband and wife were shot. Can you imagine, over a football game? The players and university neither know nor care who you are and you would give your life to defend the football teams honor?

rich...i will say....when i first heard the story about the kid...i dont even think it said what kind of weapon was involved....i think it said under investigation....i just assumed it was a type of automatic handgun....after reading the story just now....i agree totally with you.....what a stupid moron the dad was....even the instructor for letting it get that far anyway.
as far as the father getting shot instead....i still think its messed up either way....you now have a father that has figured out how fricking stupid he was....and has to deal with causing the death of his son....on the other side....you would have had a young kid growing up knowing he accidently blowed his fathers brains out....and seen it happen right in front of him.
i actually know an older gentleman that accidently backed over his son that was playing under his truck....he was hiding in the fender well on top of the tire....i aint sure how he got thru the last 30 years without killing himself.
anyway....back to the guns...i see a lot of were raised using weapons....but i didnt see this mentioned....and im sure its diff for a lot of folks.
as a kid....and i did colton the same way.....it was single shot weapons only....bolt action air rifle....single shot shotgun....bolt action 30-06....nothing semi-automac where the trigger could be pulled a second time by mistake...even with a safety.
and absolutely no handguns....they are way to easy for a kid to wave around accidently....especially after firing the first round off...or any round for that matter....i think thats why i thought the kid was killed by an automatic handgun.
and chass...nope....wouldnt even consider raising a weapon to anyone over a football game...or anything else....unless they were stealing my stuff...or posing some type of danger to me or my family.
i gotta go cook supper...later...kev.
