Koroit.... The Spotlight... just the one bit of concentrated opal, but it sure is bright. The rest has some interesting pattern. Koroit.... The Shark... kind of reminded me of Jaws..... or Chennaults's fighters. An unk.... that maybe be a lace agate type... but it isn't as hard as agate usually is. Two folks think this stuff is lace... any other ideas? An unk... I think is geode rind. Koroit.... these next two look like wood to me... nice opal in the cracks. And a Koroit opal... Side orientation.... Thanks, Tony

Another great batch by the master, I like the shark, the spotlight, and the last Koroit, that crazy lace is pretty neat too, I love that stuff.

You saved the best for last! All of them are beautiful but my favorites were the shark and "the ones that look like pet wood". This was of course till my eyes hit the last one.
The lace seems to have some fire in it. Could it be a combination of crazy lace and fire agate?

Great job as always Tony! I like the unknown and that last Koroit gives me the willies. I still think that stuff is some alien life that has come to put an end to life as we know it. Maybe we should name it Obama Opal.

Great opals Tony, lots of color and really good patterns too. I'm partial to the last one & the shark.

Thanks, ya'll for the kind compliments! It makes my opal addiction seem almost accepitable as I make my way back to the bridge to sleep each night.... I can warm myself with your words unless the windchill is real low Lori... your empty space really said volumes to me.. thanks! Roxy... I was just working up some more stuff for you! Tami...I keep looking for you to post some of your work... please do! Steve and Adrian.... below is a pic of the chunk I cut the mystery cabs from... it just doesn't look like the lace I'm used to.... but I admit to not being used to a lot Curt, Curt, Curt... buddy... relax. The aliens are our friends! You will only feel a pin prick when they start to replace our blood with precious opal, and then you get a wonderful ride to the slabbing moons of Covington Major and Workforce Minor where we will be sliced and diced ..... and parcels of us will be sent out to masters of the lapidary arts across the Universe! What could be better than that? Here is the chunk I cut the mystery cabs from. It just doesn't look like what I have seen in crazy lace... no druze pockets or flow stone looking areas... just a smooth cut each time. tonywaterer.home.comcast.net/~tonywaterer/rocks/mystery rock 1.jpg[/img] The other side. tonywaterer.home.comcast.net/~tonywaterer/rocks/mystery rock2.jpg[/img]

Yup, that's crazy lace, and a mighty nice one at that! Of course Mel will come along and say it's red anthropidiaite from a small creek in Zambula NM. ;D
What? Me relax?
