you know how they do it at the mint, right? They have the disks in a spinning vat of small metal balls. Maybe I can take some old coins that have lost their luster and put them in with some zinc or steel BBs for a day or two.

When you shine silver or brass in a tumbler full of bbs you add water with dish detergent, take 1/2 hour or less csroc

That's what I originally got my Lortone for - polishing silver. I use stainless steel mixed shot (with pins), a tiny squirt of Dawn and water to cover the shot & silver. Works beautifully and work-hardens the silver, too.

How old? Don't attempt this with coins of any value, they're worth more if you leave them "as is".

I second Bikerrandy's response. Collectible coins drop in value pretty significantly if you clean them.
