Here's a few cuts for this evening. Mel hit it right on the head when he ID'd my stuff as Stromatolite. Here it is freshly cut. I was really excited when i saw the dark agate center with the white. I didn't expect it to be sooo cool. Here's the green unknown. It's still unkown to me. I don't think it's moss..but could be wrong. Mel...you'll probably know right off. first slice. nice agate pocket I am looking forward to this weekend. I have to work Saturday...but Sunday is supposed to be close to 60. I have lots of rocks to play with. ;D Steve

Great stuff! The first one has a picture of a robotic figure in it. the second one looks like a green moss, probably from Oregon. Bob

Wow, your cut looks the same as Mel's picture, only that white silouhette makes it even more interesting. The green stuff (moss?) is also very nice.

That first one is Inukshukite - (Eskimo land markers) That's awesome - and the moss is fantastic too - I like colored rocks!

Those are both really cool. Of course the second is green so it has to be my favorite. Are you going to cab these?

Wow Steve! Nice looking green moss indeed! Maybe the piece was a limb or root cast that was filled in with moss agate. Looks like an incompletely agatized replacement of one of the iron rich chlorite minerals which often form the basis for some of the green moss inclusions seen in agate. I've seen green moss casts from Oregon, Idaho and Wyoming. Super nice specimen anyway. If it had looked like a nodule on the exterior, my first guess would have been a Beacon Hill (Hog Canyon) nodule from Idaho because the green moss in those looks really similar. I was told the black agate on the inside of those stromatolite nodules is actually wood very similar to Eden Valley and Blue Forest wood where the branch stuck up from the ooze and the algae grew up around the stick...Mel

Very nice pieces. I wondered how the Stromatolite got a pocket like that and then Mel comes along with the answer. I would polish that one and keep it for display.

Wow that first slab is almost too pretty to cut, how unusual, very neat stuff.

I still think it's a green limb cast.

Yeah, the green moss one looks a lot like some of the Paulina limb casts (some are pink, others green) I've seen.

Both of those materials are very nice. I have a limb cast from Hampton Butte (not far from Paulina) that looks close to that but the green is not as bright as your piece.
