Hi All, The CFMS is hosting/sponsoring a trip to the Wiley Wells (Blythe, CA) area over Thanksgiving weekend. Go to www.cfmsinc.org/ and click the fieldtrips link near the top (the site is framed so I don't like to link direct) to get all the details.

That's an annual event and a great one. Before we sold our house we lived about three hours away and went every year. They have a great Thanksgiving pot luck as well.

If anybody here is going early, my wife, and I (woodyrock) will be there the week end before. Poor timing, but but at least we will be there. Look for the Washington plates, an older couple, and a black dog. Woody

Anyone make it down there?
I know I picked up quite a lot of nice stuff when I worked a rally a few miles west of that area last year, I'd be interested to hear what kind of goodies other folks find there. (And I wanted to get that stupid spammer's post off the front page)

My wife, I were there up to the day before Thanksgiving. Met a few people there already, and found quite a bit of material. We filled a bucket at the Opal Hill mine with fire agate, getting into one seam over two inches thick. At the Hauser bed, I left about fifty eggs piled by the hole I was in keeping only a few of the larger ones. On Pebble Terrace, we picked up two buckets of material, and more at places I have no name for near Wiley Well. I am very pleased with our Explorers off road capibilites with it taking 'jeep' roads in stride. The 'road' into Opal Hill is pretty qnarley. We have been in a lot of mud, and sand with it before, but never up blasted rock like that road. We hit a dozen sites coming, and going from Washington. When I pulled all the rock out of the rig once home the old girl came up about six inches. Woody

Thanks for the short report Woody; glad to hear it was a success.
