i'm fairly certain i found some mozarkite today!!!! it was in jefferson county, missouri, under the bridge of highway 30, over the saline creek. i was getting an oil change and went for a walk, which led me there. instantly, i found a much better quality flint/chert than i've ever seen before. most were blueish green, and some red. many bands. then, i flipped over this 3" rock and on the underside was purple, red, grey, clear and white. i dipped it in the creek. it had a glassy feel to it and looked very much like petrified wood, but it was in chert/flint. also, when held to the sun, you can see thru the edges. thoughts? is this mozarkite? if so, it's like 2 miles from my house and i'll be spending tons of time there. actually, i will anyway, since there were lots of colorful chert/flint with potential for good polishing. there were some good cronoid fossils there too, including one that was about 6 inches long and 1.5 wide.
so, is this mozarkite?
and btw, i'm computer illeterate. i have no ideas how to put photos into this computer. i got this computer from my sister in law, who'll show me how, when she comes home for christmas.

I am looking forward to your posts! It sounds like you have a great find even if it turns out not to be what you expect. If it looks like that picture, it should be some really nice material. Happy Hunting! Fran
