Hey Puppie, I've got one of those that's a full round. I still don't know how someone came up with the idea, cleverness, ingenuity and patience to put one together. Thay are super cool though! Steve

Today I figured out how to make the whole sphere. I'm gonna make it red and white like a great big candy ball. Martha Stewart's not losing any sleep, though.

Hey Puppies. I have made several of those a few years back. Hard to find the plastic cups that are diamond cut here. I made them and gave them as gifts. My Aunt showed me how. I just think they are beautiful. Thanks for bringing back great memories. One thing, when you store it after the holidays, don't hang it up in the attic or anywhere it gets hot. The "weld" between the cups gets frail and it will fall apart. I would like to see a pic when it's finished!

LOL -- hey Tonja, you are the expert on this! Diamond cut cups, huh? Never heard of 'em or thought of them! I've gone crazy enough finding the clips to put them together and light chains that worked right, I'm NOT going out looking for Diamond cut! Those actually are going to stay the way they are, I don't know what the neighbors will think; maybe that monster size amoeba-like luminous blobs are hatching out in our garden or something. I have a white one like the one in the picture completed and my masterpiece -- LOL -- is a red and white complete sphere which is going to hang from a shepherd's crook type plant hanger which I am going to wind the red and white lights around like a candy cane. Once all this gets out there everybody is going to want to come party at our house.

Cool! What,s holding the cups together? My mom used to make christmas trees out of baby food jars glued together with tinsel & colored lights inside something like this www.thriftyfun.com/tf179296.tip.html

I love that thing!!It is so cool and looks sort of much more professional.
I found some really small light clips for mini lights and used them to hold the tops together. The clips are white plastic and were $2.99 for 100 of them at Ace Hardware. Words to the wise; sometimes when the cups don't like being tortured into these shapes, the clips go flying pretty good distances and puppy dogs like to pick them up and chew them.
