I started by first load of pre-polish in my UV-10 yesterday. The rocks seem to be rotating properly. The consistancy of the prepolish and water is about that of white gravey, just enough to cover the rock. Is this about right? Will I see a difference at the end of the cycle?

As long as the rocks are sliding over each other and not banging against each other like little hammers, it is correct (but having a large enough load has a lot to do with that). You should be able to rinse the pre-polish off easily with a spritz of water.
I don't typically get much thickening at the pre-polish stage on my UV-18; it appears the UVs seal tighter than Lot-Os, so they don't dry out as much and you're not removing much rock at this stage.
I'm sure BikerRandy can contribute.
Hope that helps, Chuck

The finer the grit, the thinner the slurry.I'm satisfied if the polish and pre. are milky. In a vibe you have to be very careful to add just the right amount of water--and maintain that level.I prefer tp start the load with dry rock and grit, then "spritz"in water a little at a time from a used spray bottle until it's good.PS., I use only filtered or distilled water since hard water minerals can potentionally harm the polish.Mike.

I don't know about the UV-10 or any other vibe except the Lot-O but in the LO only VERY small amounts of pre and polish are used. For a 4 lb load only 1/2 teaspoon full is used from the 500 grit stage up to and including the polish stage.

Like Mike said, it should look milky. Just a little pre-polish will do the job, even though it doesn't look like it. With the proper amount, you'll still be able to see the patterns in some of the rocks through the milky slurry.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like I am doing ok. May have a little more prepolish than needed, but I can live with that. Hopfully will be ready to polish on Thursday.
