Beautiful specimens Chuck! Thank you for posting. Such pretty colors and the grain is amazing. They look like palm wood.

I don't know if I can bring myself to cut into it or part with it. I really like it the way it is. I don't have a saw big enough, anyway.
Thanks for the ID on Palm. I don't know my woods yet.

Cool pieces. I really like the grain of the second piece. Looks like Oregon wood.
Thanks for sharing.

It was open 2 1/2 years ago. Some of the people that went to WWR I took a day trip up there.

Yes, it's still open; at least it was last Spring when I was there and the web site is still up: stillwellstore.com/I found some plume and other agate there along with pet wood. Some really nice pieces. There are literally tons of rock to be picked up. Cheap, too (1/4 the price of WWR). There is a lot of variety in the rocks there. One thing I found, which I have not seen before, is a thick quartz shell (1/4 to 1/2 inch or more) around another rock. My guess is that the central rock is older and was a nucleation site for the quartz. I'll post photos when I can. I've forgotten the owner's name. He's not very talkative, but knows the Woodwards. Evidently Trey told him that if there was any plume on his property, it must have washed down from WWR! ;D The owner is a rockhound. He's got a big saw in back (at least 24" if memory serves) surrounded by slabs and piles of rock. Chuck

Thanks Beef!
Right now I'm just enjoying it as it is. I'm not too eager to slab it because it's a really nice specimen. I'm sure it would produce some nice cabs, though.
