These are the small agates and stones that I've been culling from the Model B on coarse grind...lots of little beach agates, some Calapooya purple, some Holley Blue, a little jasper and some cabs that were taking up space on a shelf. 5 days on 120/220. The green colander has pieces of broken brown granite scrap I got from a new condo countertop install. I use them for filler. I'll post back here with pics when they're done as well.

Yup, I picked out about a half-pound of purple agate the other day. It's all in the Model B getting skin removal therapy right now. The problem with the purple agate from the Calapooya is that it comes in tiny nodules and broken shards, not in thick chunks you can really use or cut up for lapidary projects. I could make several necklaces if I had a bead drill!

Ah - there's nothing better than a little "ex-foliating" tumble! ;D
Really pretty tumbles - the purple Agate's really leap out! ;D
Cheers,
Sparkles.

Allrighty then. Here's one that was just big enough to face polish... Tumbled and vibe polished... Tumbled up to 500 grit. Latest batch I collected recently, one week on 60-90 grit. Forgive the shadows and craptastic digital imagery...

Cool stuff! Purple is so rare, at least around here.
Are those eyes or pits? If they're eyes, can you please post a close-up? I love eye agates...
Thanks! Chuck

The agate has eyes but they're not 'in' the agate, they're apparently another mineral that formed first on the skin of the agate. Some look interesting, others just get in the way.

Those purple agates are fantastic!!! You collected them yourself? Wow! I think they look really good even at the 500 grit stage! Superb!

In those close-up pics, many of them look so much like Laguna agates that I'd never be able to tell them apart. -Don
