As near as I can tell, this is Tremolite Asbestos. The rock formation I found it in is from the Jurassic time. I have found fossils, and coal nearby. This come from the San Rafael in Central Utah. Before I heard what it could be, I did cut a chunk in half. It is very soft, and fibrous. When cut, it just falls apart in strands like rotten wood. At first look, it even looks like petrified wood. It really got me to wondering what it was. I done a little research, and that is the best conclusion I can come up with. Any one else know what it could be, or confirm what I have found out.
