For all my RTH Buddies far from NYC!!! Well some of you know that my Mom and I have gone to NYC over Christmas every year since I was about 14. Now we take my son who is 8, and have a 3 hour ride up on the Amtrack, which he loves. I guess I am getting old, because this year I found NYC to be too crowded, dirty, smelly, cold, and expensive. So here is what $1,500 gets you in NYC for 1 day!! Mom paid, thank goodness. Enjoy, AMBER!! Christmas Tree: 72 feet tall 8 tons 2.5 miles of string lights, (I would hate to untangle that mess) 30,000 bright bulbs. My kid, perched percariously above the masses of people. Copy of Waterford Ball that is dropped on New Year's on display in Macy's. AHHHH CARTIER!!! I CAN DREAM Room at the Crown Plaza in Time Square, $650/night. My Mom is nuts. Did get free coffee, yeah!! It was snowing that evening, so it is a little fuzzy. Our Room, the bed was nice, but for $650/night, I thought maybe one of the Chippendales would be tucking me in Times Square at night. It was a mad house. Broadway show tickets were cheap since no one can afford the $200 pp to go. Dinner at Applebees no apps, no dessert, no alchohol $97 for 3. Coffee at Starbucks: $2.50, that was a deal Carriage ride through Central Park: $60 My son saying he didn't want to wait in the 2 hour line to go into FAO Schwartz: Priceless!!!!

I guess it depends on which one gets a smile like that on a kid's face!

Some great pictures of your Trip! Your son will never forget these trips...and spending time with Grandma and Mom! I would never be able to fork out that kind of dough for a room. I don;t even have that much in my bank account. I know my girls always talk about wanting to go to New york and visit the big City. I would find it really cool to see all those tall buildings...but would hate the crowds. Thanks for sharing with us. Steve

I like NYC but if you want a city that never sleeps go to Paris. Of course then you have to put up the the surrender frogs. lol $650 for one in night is more than my rent for a month. Ouch. I do love NYC though. Its less than 2 hours away but I haven't been there in years.

That's ok, I've been to France 7 times. The only people over there that were nice to me were the other Americans.
